[GeoEthics] Trademarking “Science” by GIS Vendors and its impact

Dear colleagues

I have some queries and appreciate advice.



When did trademarking of any topics/fields of “Science” by any GIS vendors start?  Is it from 2016? [1], [2].


Are there any other examples of any other GIS Vendors trademarking any topics or fields of “Science” ?


What are the impacts of trademarking any topics/fields of “science” by any GIS vendors in various domains, for example in GeoHealth?


It will be helpful if any colleagues who have expertise in GeoHealth  (for example OGC Health DWG)  provide advice/guidance on this. Thanks.
