OK. I think we can formally ratify this at Rome.

I would have thought this should be v2.1.1. We're not changing the UML and it would seem sensible that v2.1 of the UML should relate to v2.1.* of the schema.

I'm happy for this to be published as the production standard. As Marcus has said it won't directly affect 1GE as we standardised on ShearDispacementFeature rather than Fault to minimise scope for arguments on when a Fault becomes a DuctileShearStructure etc...

So, could I have an indication from the group if we are happy to publish the v2.2 tag schemas as our production standard?

Is my proposed version numbering correct (ie, should it be v2.1.1?) We are not really adding anything to the schema, just fixing a bug.

Cheers,
Ollie

This is not just a 1GE issue. If GeoSciML v2.1 is to be our production standard until v3.x is released (still sometime off given we haven't tested it yet) then it needs it needs to meet not just the 1GE requirements but all the GeoSciML v2.0 use cases. Fault, DuctileShear and FaultSystem were all included because it was felt they are required. In fact I'm a little surprised that ShearDisplacementStructure isn't an abstract class.

As such v2.1 needs to be able to deliver these classes and should be modified accordingly. 1GE can continue as is without being affected.

Hi Marcus,

That's OK as long as all your 1GE co-workers also realise that the v2.1 faultType attribute only works for gsml21:ShearDisplacementStructure and not Fault, DuctileShear, or FaultSystem.

Cheers,
Ollie

Our 1GE services currently return MappedFeatures with a specification of gsml21:ShearDisplacementStructure features which have a faultType property. That's the default way the 1GE connector is set up and I think everyone in 1GE will be doing it that way but BRGM can confirm. We have so little data to put in I don't think we have anything to put in the extra properties (segment?) of the Fault sub-type. Given the end of 1GE is approaching I don't suppose there's much point changing this now.

Marcus
