[auscope-geosciml] Full Moon classmap registry for GeoSciML [SEC=UNCLASSIFIED]

Gilly and FullMoon protagonists,
I have attached a zip file of all the classmaps for FullMoon that I think should be uploaded to www.geosciml.org<http://www.geosciml.org/>. It includes to all the GeoSciML model classmaps that we have used for versions 2 and 3 to date, as well as one classmap register each for version 2 and 3.
Could I please get some feedback on whether the community agrees with this course of action, and Gilly can upload the files on to www.geosciml.org<http://www.geosciml.org/>.
Cheers,
Ollie

Hi Ollie,
I checked my local Fullmoon register and for GeoSciML, the only local classmap I used was for LaboratoryAnalysis. There was an error in the namespace prefix for GeochronologicInterpretation (gt instead of glab). So I made a reference to local one to fix it (and forgot to send it to you for update on the subversion server). Other than that, I used the classmaps that were available on the subversion server.

Objet : Full Moon classmap registry for GeoSciML [SEC=UNCLASSIFIED]
Hi Bruce, et al
Ah, I see what you mean now. There are no GeoSciML references in the default FullMoon register now - http://projects.arcs.org.au/svn/fullmoon/trunk/resources/dependency/Register_ExternalPackages.xml
So I presume that we need to create and maintain a FullMoon external registry file for the GeoSciML classmaps (see attached my first drafts for the GeoSciML version 3 packages and the GeoSciML version 2 packages).
I suggest we upload all the GeoSciML classmaps to www.geosciml.org/classmap/geosciml-core/<http://www.geosciml.org/classmap/geosciml-core/>..... , www.geosciml.org/classmap/borehole/<http://www.geosciml.org/classmap/borehole/>...... , etc, etc, and upload the FullMoon registry files to www.geosciml.org/classmap/registry/<http://www.geosciml.org/classmap/registry/>..... (Francois et al - could you check that everything is OK with the attached registry files?)
Does that seem to be an OK plan to everyone?
Cheers,
Ollie
PS. Francois, could you confirm that the classmaps in https://www.seegrid.csiro.au/subversion/GeoSciML/tags/3.0.0_rc2 are the exact same classmaps that you used for generating the schemas (ie, you haven't done any local editing during the v3.0 schema generation process).

Rather there should be no GeoSciML classmaps in the default FullMoon registry. I think Simon has already removed them.
They should be in a separate GeoSciML FullMoon registry.
I'm not sure whether this means you specify both the default and GeoSciML registries in the GeoSciML Classmap file, or whether we need to maintain a GeoSciML FullMoon registry with all the registry entries we require in it.

Hi bruce,
I'm not exactly sure what you mean by " the GeoSciML registry entries in the FullMoon Classmap". Could you explain? Do you mean that we should not be using subversion repository pathnames for GeoSciML classmaps in the Fullmoon default registry - if so, then I agree.
I'll work out a geosciml.org location and get Gilly to upload them.
Cheers,
Ollie

Hi Ollie,
While generating the schema for BOM water reservoir it became clear that it is inappropriate to have the GeoSciML registry entries in the FullMoon Classmap.
As such a separate registry for the GeoSciML classMap locations is required.

Hi Ollie –
It could be legitimately be argued that the classmap for a schema is an artefact that should be provided publicly for any published schema – e.g. see https://www.seegrid.csiro.au/wiki/bin/view/AppSchemas/PublishingReusablePackages .
For this reason they should probably be put on the same server as the published XML Schema.
So for any version of the schema published to geosciml.org, then you should put the classmap nearby.
Simon

OK, thanks Pavel.
The classmap problems arise because, 1. the pathnames point to GeoSciML svn trunk (an unstable location which has undergone significant change in the past 12 months), and 2. the mixing of some v2 and some old v3 classmaps.
I suggest the following changes:
1. For schema generation involving GeoSciML v2.x, use pathnames to https://www.seegrid.csiro.au/subversion/GeoSciML/tags/2.0.0/model for the GeoSciML version 2 classmaps:
- ClassMap_GeoTime_V2.xml
- ClassMap_GeoSciML_V2.xml
- ClassMap_CGI_Utilities.xml
and https://www.seegrid.csiro.au/subversion/GeoSciML/tags/2.1.0/classmap/ for
- ClassMap_GeoSciML_V21.xml
[Alternatively, see point 3 below.]
2. The following classmaps are redundant classmaps that were built to support very early development in GeoSciML v3 (despite their filenames implying a link to GeoSciML v2)
- ClassMap_borehole_GeoSciML_V2.xml
- ClassMap_fossil_GeoSciML_V2.xml
- ClassMap_core_GeoSciML_V2.xml
- ClassMap_specimen_GeoSciML_V2.xml
These classmaps are replaced by new GeoSciML v3 classmaps located at https://www.seegrid.csiro.au/subversion/GeoSciML/branches/3.0.0_rc2. (eg: https://www.seegrid.csiro.au/subversion/GeoSciML/branches/3.0.0_rc2/earthMaterial/3.0.0/classMap/ClassMap_EarthMaterial_GeoSciML_v3.xml).
These new v3 classmaps are still undergoing occasional editing as part of the v3.0 development.
3. Could I suggest that the default classmap FullMoon register only point to final svn tag or published web locations in the future. (I was surprised to see just now that the v2.0 classmaps are not at www.geosciml.org<http://www.geosciml.org/>. However, the v2.1 classmap for shearDisplacementStructure is there.)
Let me know if you would like to have the v2.0 classmaps copied to www.geosciml.org/geosciml/2.0/<http://www.geosciml.org/geosciml/2.0/>.
Cheers,
Ollie

Hi Pavel,
Where is FullMoon reading the pathnames from for the classMaps. Is FullMoon reading them from the classMap tag in a UML model? Or are the pathnames hard-coded in FullMoon? Or something else?
I'm fairly sure I know the answer to your problem, but I need to be sure of exactly where FullMoon is reading the pathnames from (I've never actually used FullMoon in anger).
Thanks,

Hi Alistair,
I’ve tried to encode schemas in FullMoon and here’s the list of unconformities:
10
Some external packages and/or classes within the model do not have corresponding records in registry or type-mapping tables.
1.
External dependency package "basicTypes" does NOT have a corresponding record in the dependency register.
2.
External dependency package "Geometry root" does NOT have a corresponding record in the dependency register.
3.
External dependency class "URI" does NOT have a corresponding record in a ClassMap found through a register reference.

I attempted to generate schemas too and got an invalid schema – see attached. Looks like it cannot find some external types (?)
FullMoon still cannot work properly as some dependencies are still missing. Simon, could you please at the register and fix location of default class maps as they do not exist anymore at their old locations.
Alistair, when do you need schemas for that model? Do you have any time constraints?
Cheers,

Hi Pavel
I have a very simple application schema that I created in HollowWorld and I need an XSD generated from it.
In the absence of a Fool Moon service, are you able to process it for me? (Bruce tells me you have Full Moon installed, whereas I don't, and don't want go through the pain of installing it, or SolidGround, on a laptop that is days away from replacement.)
