[auscope-geosciml] [ExternalEmail] Re: GeoSciML RC2 schemas - O&Mv2 schema location update [SEC=UNCLASSIFIED]

I just noticed that some of the test instance documents had rc* schemaLocations.
These days I do all testing with the expected final location, and mask this with a catalogue.

My 0.02 Euros (I'm already in France),

there is no mention of rc* in the v3 schemas URI (eg: http://schemas.geosciml.org/borehole/3.0/borehole.xsd), so once the stable release are ready they will be published at these locations (http://schemas.geosciml.org/*/3.0/), and the test documents should still be able to validate.
Would you publish the rc* schemas in another location?

Though perhaps not during the design phase when things are still unstable and it should only be the inside group who are even trying. The risk this way is that these docs get out into the wild and people will expect the rc* locations to exist for ever ...

There is a cost either way.

No.
I believe users should be able to validate responses from WFS without the need for local schema caches. GeoServer now also doesn't assume local schema locations.

Not quite “seamless” then, but good nonetheless. I take that you are not using a catalog file with your XMLSpy?

Hi Ollie,

Testbed 4 instances (https://www.seegrid.csiro.au/subversion/GeoSciML/branches/3.0.0/instances) now load into XMLSpy without any duplicate schema import errors.

Thanks.
Bruce

Hi all,

The V3.0 RC2 schemas at http://schemas.geosciml.org<http://schemas.geosciml.org/> have been updated so that they point to the proper OGC location of the O&M v2 schemas (http://schemas.openis.net<http://schemas.openis.net/>), not the temporary CSIRO subversion copy that we originally used. (Thanks to Gilly for getting these online so quickly.)

The change should be seamless to users and have no affect on the validity of existing RC2 instance documents.

Cheers,
Ollie
