[GeoSciML] Proposal: layer names for GeoSciML-portrayal services to enable shared SLD

The layer names should include some indication of the feature schema version
expected. 

Proposal:

Adopt gsmlp as the standard prefix for GeoSciML-portrayal namespace

Add version number of schema used by data for the WMS layer, e.g. 2.0

Use GeosciML-p feature name, all lower case as the layer name

 

Thus:

gsmlp2.0:geologicunitview

gsmlp2.0:sheardisplacementstructureview

gsmlp2.0:contactview

 

SLD's at http://schemas.usgin.org/schemas/slds/ are set up with a named
layer gsmlp2.0:geologicunitview. No sld:userStyle is defined

 

Example queries

Note: if no sld:userStyle defined, then leave STYLES= as null parameter. If
a userStyle is named, it will need to be specified in the request URL. Not
sure how sld:default affects this.
