Geoscience Australia = Done.

I encourage everyone to vote, and tell all your OGC friends to vote too.

Regards,

Subject: new vote on portal for GeoSciML

Dear TC Voters,

There is a new vote on the portal for OGC Geoscience Markup Language 4.1 (GeoSciML) [16-008] as a new OGC standard.

The candidate standard was presented to the TC during the Closing Plenary of the 2016 Orlando TC meeting and approved for vote on 2016-09-22. The presentation slides can be found here:
https://portal.opengeospatial.org/files/?artifact_id=71014

Abstract: GeoSciML is a model of geological features commonly described and portrayed in geological maps, cross sections, geological reports and databases. The model was developed by the IUGS CGI (Commission for the Management and Application of Geoscience Information) and version 4 is the first version officially submitted as an OGC standard. This specification describes a logical model and GML/XML encoding rules for the exchange of geological map data, geological time scales, boreholes, and metadata for laboratory analyses. It includes a Lite model, used for simple map-based applications; a basic model, aligned on INSPIRE, for basic data exchange; and an extended model to address more complex scenarios.

The candidate standard can be found on Pending Documents here:
https://portal.opengeospatial.org/files/?artifact_id=70172&version=3

Therefore, the Technical Committee Chair has initiated an adoption vote for:

OGC Geoscience Markup Language 4.1 (GeoSciML) [16-008] as a new OGC standard.

This is a 45 day electronic vote and associated IPR review period. The vote will end on 11 November 2016.

Thanks and Regards,
Scott
